Witton Woods

I gave Witton Woods a second chance on Saturday and after seeing nothing last time and the fact a force 10 gale was blowing I didn't hold out much hope. Before leaving I saw a Goldcrest in the garden. I had dropped Claire off in Bacton and done a small lap in the car before going to Witton.

In Edingthorpe Malards on the pond were a new patch year tick, but no other birds were to note. I also called in at the Sewage Works were 12 Magpies were hanging out and a Pied Wagtail was also present. A singing Song Thrush gave it a spring feel even in the strong wind.

I then headed for Witton parked up and went for a stroll, at last my first bird for Witton Woods, only a Blue Tit but never mind, it was as expected quiet and as I walked round (about 2.5 miles) I only saw 4/5 Goldcrests, 2 fly over Siskin, 2 Great Tits, 2 more Blue Tits and a Sparrow Hawk. I will have to try and earlier, still morning I think.

Almost forgot last week a had Barn Owl, Tawny Owl and Woodcock all on the patch.
