Scotland......

Day Off

An afternoon off and a morning to recover ment I had the chance to go see the King Eider and got some good but decent views. I then had to go Holt direction the next day was lucky enough to see Honey Buzzard at Swanton Novers.

Hummm

Another day in Bacton and at least 8 (eight) more Hummingbird Hawk Moths there really is an unbelievable amount in/passing through this garden managed another shot. Plus another little brown job, James could you please direct be to a good moth book as I really struggle to find these in mine.

Breydon

Headed down to Breydon Water in the hope of WR Sandpiper no sign of any, but a few Greenshank, Spotted Redshank and Whimbrel were nice to look at.

Also Common Sandpiper and a Hobby flew over.

Also about were around a million of those annoying little black bugs at one point when the breeze picked up it actually felt like it was hailing as they crashed into me.

This is my third of the year and second in this garden.

Rusty Tussock Moth ?? I think.

The Last Week (as in last week not the last week ever)

Last Sunday 11th July 2010 went to Titchwell with Claire so she could see a few birds or two, plus I wanted to see the Pectoral Sandpiper and get some pics of the Buff-Breasted Sandpiper.

We arrived and got straight onto the Buff-Breasted at close range they are really nice birds when you get a proper look at them.



I got my picture (above) so continued to scan for the Pec Sand we watched Greenshank, Spotted Redshank and Ruff and some rather cool baby Redshank. After about an hour of waiting a distant bird looked like a possible for a Pec Sand but then a much closer bird appear and this was the Pec Sand. It showed well with both Pec Sand and Buff-breasted in the same scope view at one point.


Just before leaving I had one last scan around when I came across my boggy bird of the year a Green Sandpiper.

Had the week off work this week Wednesday we headed to Priory Gardens not many birds but a great maze and Gardens. I also testes the waterproof feature of my camera an got these shots of some Stickle Backs.


News of a Kentish Plover and Wryneck had us headed across the county after lunch but both birds seemed to of disappeared before most birders arrived. A quick stop at Flitcham had us watching Turtle Dove and Little Owl, and a stop at Roydon had me watching briefly a Woodlark.

3rd July saw Buff-Breasted Sandpiper very early morning and two Humming Bird Hawk moths during the day.

4th July was lucky enough to get good views (not on film) of the River Warbler. Video Here.

7th July Headed for Rainham Marshes where we got over an hour of this.....

and a few bitten nails later we got views of this.
